When you're drawing a line, you're inherently drawing the negative space around the line, creating a rhythm – that you can embrace or ignore.
While drawing this piece, I imagined the Blob figures dancing through a 3D room together like dust particles in a crosswind. Silver ink lines on brown handmade paper form the basis of the work which – complimented by the reflection of light – make the lines pop off the textured background. Hang this piece in direct sunlight – the different times of day will create very different results.
A series of black dots finally create the illusion of shadow, leaving just enough space to keep flowing through the motion.
